Celebrating Connections: A Term of Transition and Engagement

As we near the end of a busy Term, we reflect on the strong connections we’ve built with local primary schools and our wider community. Transition experiences help future students feel confident and connected, and at Marian, these are supported through events that showcase our culture, learning opportunities, and student leadership.
Held on Thursday 28 May, the Twilight Open Evening welcomed over 190 booked guests to Marian. This event was a fantastic opportunity to highlight all that Marian has to offer.
Our Principal Angela Romano, warmly welcomed families and spoke about Marian’s values, vision, and commitment to student success. Our Student Leaders were exceptional, guiding families through key learning areas and sharing their experiences.
Interactive activities in Science, Technology, and the Design Warehouse kept families engaged and inspired. Visitors enjoyed performances from our choir and concert band, while our VET Beauty students impressed with their professionalism and creativity.
In the Louise Cleary Building, displays showcased our academic and co-curricular programs. Staff were available to answer questions and speak with families, creating a welcoming and informative environment.
Guests also enjoyed freshly baked muffins, Marian cookies, hot chocolate, and excellent coffee, thanks to our students’ hospitality and barista service.
On Monday 2 June, we welcomed students from St Peter’s Primary School for a Marian Discovery Day. The highlight of the visit was participating in hands-on lessons across Drama, Woodwork, and Robotics - offering an exciting glimpse into learning at Marian.
During recess in the Resource Centre, students listened to student leaders and alumnae share brief reflections about life at Marian. The visit was topped off with muffins from our chef, Jamie, and smiles all around as students and teachers departed with positive memories of the day.
This semester, Marian visited seven of our priority parish feeder schools. Accompanied by student leaders and alumnae, these visits gave primary students a firsthand look into secondary school life, with a particular focus on Marian’s facilities, programs, and offerings.
These visits are a chance for younger students to ask questions, learn more about daily life at Marian, and connect with familiar faces who have made the transition themselves. The enthusiasm, curiosity, and energy shared during these visits are always a highlight.
Transition events and community partnerships are central to Marian’s mission. Through Discovery Days, school visits, and open evenings, we aim to build excitement, ease nerves, and support a smooth transition.
Thank you to all staff, students, and families for making this term such a success.
