ADMINISTERING MEDICATIONS AT ASCHOOL:

Lately there has been an increase in students coming to the office requesting Paracetamol for headaches, aches, and pains. We do not have paracetamol available at school for student use.

The DEECD School Policy and Advisory Guide for student health and medication recommends:

“That school should not store or administer analgesics such as aspirin, ibuprofen and paracetamol as a standard first aid strategy for students as they can mask signs and symptoms of serious illness or injury”.

If your child has a condition that requires such medication at school, a School Medication Management Plan must be completed and signed by a medical practitioner and the required medication supplied to the school in its original packaging to be stored at the office.

Current contact details:

If your child is unwell or injured and needs to go home, it is extremely important that we have current contact details for parents /guardians. It is also very important that you provide the school with a number of emergency contacts in the event that you are unavailable, or the school cannot reach you.
