Active School Lunchtime Sports Programs –

Term 2 Report

Our extracurricular school lunchtime activities in 2024 continued to be a huge hit.

Our students again showed up in big number. The equipment purchased in the last two years from the Active Schools grant allowed our students to get out there and have lots and lots of fun. The credit also goes out to the fantastic coaches we have employed at our school. Only positive things to say to the dedicated staff who run these sessions each week. So hats off for

Term 2 Sports

Division Cross Country

It has been a busy term for Lyndale with sporting carnivals.

During May, we had our division cross country team compete at Braeside Park for Division Cross Country.

Lyndale had over 100 students competing in this event. It wasn’t an easy event as there was more competition, this year we were versing SEDA, Carwatha, Dandenong High, Keysborough Acacia, Keysborough Banksia, Miranet, Mount Hira, Noble Park, and Sirus.

Lyndale held their own and ended up having 41 students qualify! An amazing effort and result from our team.

Lyndale WON the day and came back home with the trophy!

We had a few students place in the top 3 placings on the day, big shout out these students:

  • 12-13yolds Boys-Dawould I (1st) Ebesa J(2nd) Sufian A(3rd )
  • 12-13 yolds Girls- Ileesha A(2nd)
  • 16 yolds Boys- Murtaza R (1st) Jawed B (2nd)
  • 16 yold Girls- Mahnoor N (1st) Mikayla A (2nd)

Regional Cross Country

On Tuesday the 25th of June at Ballam Park Frankston, Lyndale’s regional cross-country team went out and competed at Regionals!

Tuesday had perfect conditions for cross country, no rain and light wind with a bit of sunshine and our team was ready to compete.

Our students were up against 58 other schools competing at Regionals this year. Although our team gave it their best, we did not qualify for state. Considering how extremely competitive Regionals is, all our students who attended this event performed exceptionally and gave it 100%. Great work from our regional team!

That’s a wrap for our cross-country carnivals for 2024.

Athletics Carnival

May 14th 2024 Lyndale Secondary College had our Athletics carnival at Casey Regional Athletics Centre.

What an amazing day it was! With 700 hundred students attending, we had extremely high numbers of participation from all of students ALL DAY! Great work Lyndale!

Popular events throughout the day for girls’ events were 800m, shot put, long jump and triple jump. For boys events it was 1500m, discus, javelin, long jump & triple jump. The most popular event for both male and females on the day were 100m track event and relays.

We had an amazing team of VM senior students and staff setting up and catering the entire event with pizza, soft drink, and sausages. Well-done to this team. They had great success in providing lunch and snacks to whole school.

As the day started to wrap up, the sun came out and the results finally came through at the end of the carnival. It was neck to neck with results for 4th, 3rd, and 2nd House team results but in the end, Gladstone blitzed everyone with over a 200-point lead!

Our carnivals couldn’t run without the help of all our staff. Thank you to our team of staff who helped make this carnival a great success and the staff that helped with setting up! Thanks to our PCO team for coordinating the buses and rolls. Our data team who was hard at work, taking in results and recording all day. A BIG thank you to our dynamic, amazing PE team and Mr. Shane, your teamwork is much appreciated.

This year we had some parent helpers who assisted staff at field events, triple jump & long jump. Big thank you to Sam, Kaltun and Emma for helping with the staff.

Division Athletics will be on the 9th of September.

And a big congratulations to all our students who have represented Lyndale Secondary College in many different sports in the interschool competitions over this term. Some have done very well, and others have tried their best against some very tough competition. One thing you all have in common though is upholding the College's values always, Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Well done to all!
