Around the rooms

A snapshot from the classrooms this fortnight

Kindergarten - Jacqueline Pribilovics

Kindergarten had so much fun at their first Athletics Carnival. They loved getting dressed up and cheering on their House Colour. I think their favourite part was getting to go on the bus with all their friends. Unfortunately the weather spoiled our plans and the carnival had to be cut short. Luckily we were still able to do the 70m running race and play some of our novelty games. Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who braved the weather with us.

Year 1 - Danielle McClure and Eva Clinton

We are continuing to learn about informative writing. This week, we have started looking at ants and their life cycle. We started by writing about the ant's appearance, followed by some very accurate labelled diagrams.

Ants have a head, body, jaws and a thorax. They have jaws to chew hard things.

Annika, Year 1

Ants have 6 legs and one head. They also have an abdomen, thorax and strong jaws. They have feelers to touch.

Ella, Year 1

Year 2 - Aoife Geraghty

Over the past two weeks, Year Two has been trying something new: silent meditation! We aim to incorporate 3 minutes of meditation into our daily routine whenever possible. The students have described their meditation journey with words like peaceful, relaxing, and challenging.

On a more energetic note, we had a wonderful day at our Athletics Carnival on Friday. Despite the weather, the students had a fantastic time dressing up in their house colours and participating in runs, jumps, and relays!

Year 3 - Hannah Jory & Peter Mallos

The students in Stage 2 have been working on building the ultimate skatepark in their STEM lessons. The students have been researching, designing, building and testing various designs and working out the Mathematical angles that work best.

Year 4 - Bella Abruzzese

Last week, Year 4 attended Mass and participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. They have been spending time reflecting on the experience and their relationship with God and what it means to be truly sorry. They have been drawing pictures, praying with God and writing about their time of Penance.

Stage 3 - Anna Kelly & Laura Courtenay

Year 5 - Anna Kelly

In Stem, Stage 3 are learning about how to conduct electricity through circuits. This week, the children created a series and a parallel circuit. We lit up bulbs and set fans into motion using both types of circuits.

Year 6 - Laura Courtenay

Last week Year 6 took part in a SPaR with Mrs Gravina, in preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation and in line with our unit of  work in class. Students, staff and parents were asked to Stop Pray and Reflect on the gifts we receive at Confirmation from the Holy Spirit. We listened to scripture readings and selected a gift we would like the Holy Spirit to grant us. Students wrote their chosen gift on a stone and decorated.
