Year 10 and 11 Higher Education Studies Excursion

Our Year 10 and 11 Higher Education Studies students recently had an exciting opportunity to visit the newly established Centre for Higher Studies (CHES Centre).

This excursion provided our students with a firsthand look at the advanced higher education classes and early start university courses available at the CHES Centre.

The visit was both inspiring and informative, giving our students a glimpse into the future of their academic journeys and the many possibilities that lie ahead. It was a day filled with exploration, learning, and enthusiasm for what the future holds in higher education.

The day was filled with learning all about the space, inspiring talks about the coming years of school, connecting with current students, and meeting representatives from many universities.

Our students had a ball seeing all the potential out there, and one of our studious year 11 students Zoe Fitzpatrick has now been scouted for a seat in semester 2’s program, Well Done Zoe!

As you can see from the photos we had a lot of fun, and we can't wait for next year's CHES program to come out, let's all jump on it!

Feeling Fabulous Day- Diamond Creek East

On Wednesday the 5th of June, Christina, Brigette and a group of DVC students went over the Diamond Creek East Primary School to help run their Feeling Fabulous Day. Brigette ran a dance workshop for all the students to participate in, which was so much fun. All the students and staff really enjoyed being active and have an awesome time.

Christina with a group of 20 DVC students ran a football workshop for all their students to participate as part of their Feeling Fabulous Day. It was awesome to see all the students from Prep to Grade 6 getting involved in all the footy drills, learning new skills and having a great day.

Youth Hub

Last Friday 31st May six students, Reg and Jenny walked down to the future Youth Hub in Diamond Creek for the official Turning of The Sod. The mayor was there along with other council politicians, there was a photographer taking photos and the police were there too.

We went on a tour inside the building that the tradies were working on that will be the new Youth Hub. We all had to wear hi vis vests for safety.

The Youth Hub will be a place for teenagers to do activities like performances, get support if they need advice or help, there will be a weaving group, there are meeting rooms, a disabled bathroom, shower, and a laundry if the teenagers need to do their washing, a staffroom and a kitchen.

Hopefully it will be open by September this year.

Morning tea was provided, and the brownies were the best.

Year 7 Day Camp

On Wednesday 12th of June all the Year 7 students and some staff attended a fun day camp held at Amberly Retreat, Lower Plenty where we got a yummy pizza lunch and had lots of games and activities.

Some of the activities we did were Just Dance and the grid game where we had to guess which square to go onto. This game involved lots of teamwork. Another game was called who boss me boss, which was a little bit like who stole the cookies from the cookie jar, this was very loud and lots of fun. We did a session on Respectful Relationships, where we played friendship bingo and made a friendship recipe where we wrote down what makes a great friend.

Overall, it was a fun day out and a great way to socialise and make new friends. Thank you to all the staff for making the first Year 7 day camp so much fun!
