Last Tuesday evening, our Mazenod Old Collegians’ Association (MOCA) hosted a dinner attended by our Mazenod College Principal, Dr Paul Shannon, and members of our College Staff, as well as, by the leaders and representatives from our Mazenod Old Collegians’ Sporting Clubs, and members of our MOCA Committee. It was a very enjoyable night where we all focussed on the care and camaraderie we have for each other, as we strive to work together for the goodwill and benefit of all our wider Mazenod College Community, encompassing our Old Collegians’ Association. United, we make a dynamic and compassionate team as we seek to live out the Charism of St Eugene de Mazenod and of our Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.  As always, our Old Collegians’ Sporting Clubs depend on the goodwill of volunteers; that is, on the generosity and goodwill of all of us. Together, we can accomplish wonderful things.

MOCA would also like to acknowledge with our prayers and with much love the entry into Eternal Life of Fr Brendan Dillon, the former Parish Priest of St Leonard’s, Glen Waverley, and the Canonical Administrator on our Mazenod College Board for twenty-two and a half years. Fr Brendan was a friend to all and looked after many of our Old Boys and their families in their moments of greatest need. He was a people person; an authentic person, the “real deal”, and a beautiful Priest and Friend to all. We also extend our condolences, love, and prayers, to Fr Brendan’s brothers, Fr Kevin and John, sister-in-law, Alison, and to their extended family. All of us who were blessed to know Fr Brendan as our Priest and Friend, are filled with joy knowing that Fr Brendan is now safely home in the loving presence, peace, and happiness of Almighty God.

The accompanying photo shows Fr Brendan with a St Leonard’s family whose two sons and one grandson attended Mazenod College. Another grandson is currently in Year 10 at Mazenod College; he is the young baby whose Baptism Day the photo depicts.

Eternal rest grant unto Fr Brendan, O Lord, and Let Perpetual Light Shine upon him. May Fr Brendan’s Soul Rest in Peace, Amen.
