Term 2 has been a busy term for the Science department at Heathmont College!

Year 7s have been exploring the topic of Forces. They have been looking at balancing nails, breaking surface tension and buoyancy. The year 8s have been busy finishing off the topic of cells and digestion by examining different cells under a microscope and a rat dissection (which some enjoyed). The year 9s have been finishing up the topic of acid and bases by completing a CAT testing the acidity of oranges and lemons.

The year 10 matter, molecules and motion class finished off their semester subject by doing a titration.  The year 10 science investigation class has been busy sitting exams, and we wish them luck. The year 10 evolution of life class has been examining stars and finding out how far planets are from the sun. The year 11 biology classes have finished off unit 1 with a rat dissection. The year 12 biology class have started the topic of immunity after finishing off an exploration of photosynthesis and cellular respiration. The year 12 physics class have started the topic of light and matter.
