Captain's Report
Hello Heathmont Community,
This month's Captain Report comes to you from the Vice Captain team.
This month the Vice Captain of Curiosity, Stephanie Morgans, created a Duck Hunt for the whole school to participate in. If you are unaware, the Duck Hunt was meant to drive people quackers!
It was also intended to further understand how miscommunications to students impacts their involvement in events. We put the information where parents and keen students might find it, including the Gazette and Facebook. We told the students through one announcement on Monday before recess and displayed very vague posters with limited information. Through this we found that students who are able to receive and understand the information they are given are more likely to participate in an event - but this could be done more effectively in the future.
The students that reviewed this event were enthusiastic to have an event like this happen again, however some said they’d like it to be better communicated. So, keep your eyes and ears out for the next Heathmont College Hunt, I hear it will haunt you….
Our leadership team also hosted a Grade 6 Leadership Day this term. This day allowed us to put our newly learned skills to use. It was great to see future leaders from other schools all getting involved and excited about meeting new people and planning events for their school. We hope to have our own ambassadors plan an event based on the experience.
Heathmont College students also created and planned various fundraisers throughout the month. It was amazing to see student and staff engagement, particularly into the lead up to Friday the 28th which has the World’s Greatest Shave and Soak the Teacher. The last day of school is sure to be a blast!
Students doing a VCE subject underwent the GAT this term, as well. It was a stressful and draining day, however it was also a chance for students to practise for the stress of exams. It was amazing to have all the teachers providing support for us and even food as a reward.
Can’t wait to start school holidays. Hoping you all have a rest and break from the stress of classes.
