Equestrian

We had a modest yet enthusiastic turnout for our Paul Williams Jump clinic on the first weekend of the holidays, including a number of past students.

Despite some drizzle, the riders were committed with each one visibly improving under Paul’s expertise. Paul’s son, Matt, is a three-time Olympian for Australia, coached by Paul himself and it was these techniques and training tips that he used with his son that he imparted to the riders. What an incredible opportunity. Paul enjoyed the weekend so much so that he has committed to another training weekend in September. More information on that weekend to follow upon my return.

Term 3 lessons

I am away for the first three weeks of term. During my absence, Linda Archer will be covering the role of Horsemanship. Please don’t hesitate to direct any queries to her regarding lessons. Horsemanship resumed on Tuesday 16 July, with Linda taking jump lessons for the first two weeks whilst Jamie is away. Judy’s group lessons also resumed on 16 July, and Junior Horsemanship and lessons with Kellie started on 17 July. Lessons with Linda resume 18 July and private lessons with Judy start back 22 July.

Junior Horsemanship

We are excited to be running Junior Horsemanship in Term Three. Traditionally it has ceased due to weather but our junior riders are enthusiastic and committed so we are continuing to run it this term. We are always open to new riders joining our Junior Horsemanship program and would love to invite any Junior School students to a 'come and try' lesson. School horses are available to those who do not have their own. Please email equestrian@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au if you would like more information.

Andrea Reidel Carrison clinic

Finally, our first clinic for Term Three will be 24 August with Andrea Reidel Carrison. Andrea is an EA Level 1 General Coach and a Skill-Specific Trainer/Assessor (SSTA) based in Mount Gambier, South Australia.

Andrea states 'My philosophy is to teach a rider how much they can influence their horse by using their position; to not just sit there and look beautiful, but to understand and feel the difference they can make in the way the horse goes, with empathy and harmony.'

To book for Andrea’s clinic, please visit Andrea Reidel Carrison | Humanitix

Happy riding!
