Year 2 Performance - Busking for Change

The Year 2 students are participating in this year's "Busking for Change" Project, a joyful, musical fundraiser organised by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to raise money to support children in remote Indigenous communities.

St Finbar's is one of more than 70 schools Australia-wide who are participating in the program. The aim is for students to learn and perform a song called Shordi Krik, performed in English and Kriol, an Aboriginal First Language spoken in communities across a large area of northern Australia. Kriol is the most widely-spoken Aboriginal Language in Australia today.

The money raised from the project will help give students in remote areas better access to books written in the indigenous languages spoken at home.

Our Year 2 students will be performing the song at the Arts Festival on Thursday 22 August at 4:30pm. Visitors will be able to donate at the performance - please bring your spare change!

Students are invited to set up their own Official Fundraising Page (optional), which will enable family and friends to make online donations leading up to our special performance. Parents will need to set this up for their child using this link Busking for Change Sign Up - search for our school "St Finbar's Primary". Once set up, students will be able to share a link to their customsied fundraising page with people wishing to donate to them.

More information can be found using these links: Busking for Change - Parents and Carers or Frequently Asked Questions

The students are very excited to share their special performance and thank you in advance for your support for this very special, music-making project.
