LOTE

In Indonesian class the past two weeks, we have been following the journey of several Indonesian athletes and their performance at the Olympic Games. We have continued to describe sports and events at the games, and talked about preference.

In Prep, students have celebrated their 100 Days of School by learning a special word - seratus ('100'). They have also been working on forming short sentences about jungle animals.

Year 1 and 2 students have been learning the vocabulary for a range of objects and describing them as big and small. We have been exploring different sentences structures with this.

Year 3 and 4 students have learnt a number of ways to cheer on Indonesia at the Olympics and have created their own posters. Year 5 and 6 students have also created their own posters showcasing Olympic events, as well as surveying their peers on their sporting preferences.

The next two weeks we will wrap up our Olympics topic, as well as exploring two key dates in Indonesia: Indonesian Independence Day (August 17th) and International Orangutan Day (August 19th).

Performing Arts

Thank you to all the wonderful families who have generously donated items for our production. Your support is greatly appreciated!

I am now seeking volunteers to assist with sewing accessories onto costumes. If you are willing and able to help, please contact me via email (ashleigh.smith3@education.vic.gov.au) or come and see me in the Performing Arts room.

Additionally, I am seeking volunteers for face painting on the night of the production (11th and 12th of September). I need volunteers for both casts, if possible. All paint and brushes will be provided.

Your assistance will make a big difference and help ensure the event is a success!

Thank you for your continued support.

Visual Arts

Hello, wonderful families!

This past fortnight our Visual Arts program has been bursting with creativity and fun. Our students are continuing with their exciting new units and are thoroughly enjoying the creative journey. Year 5/6 students are having a blast collaborating on colour run decorations, while Year 3/4 students are fully engaged in crafting their Olympic-inspired sculptures. Year 1/2 students are blossoming with confidence as they master contour drawing and experiment with India ink (liquid watercolour paint), and our Prep students are diving into collagraph printing with great enthusiasm. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork are truly inspiring.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

Physical Education

Exciting PE Classes and Events!

Prep - Year 2: Olympic-Themed Lessons

Our youngest athletes are having a fantastic time participating in Olympic-themed lessons. The excitement is building as they prepare for their grand finale: the Relay Races. The students are not only learning about different Olympic sports, but also developing their teamwork and physical skills.

Year 3 - 6: Weekly Olympic Games

Our Year 3 - 6 students are diving into the Olympic spirit with weekly games and lessons focused on Gymnastics, Touch Rugby 7's, European Handball, and Swimming. Each session is designed to introduce them to these diverse sports, enhancing their skills, coordination, and understanding of international sporting events.

Congratulations to Our Girls Netball Team!

A special shout-out to our Girls Netball team for their remarkable efforts at the Division Netball competition. Despite the outcome not being in our favor, the girls represented our school with outstanding sportsmanship and determination. We are incredibly proud of their performance and the spirit they displayed.

Exploring Our Dynamic Earth!

Our Science classes have been buzzing with excitement as students engage in hands-on activities and research projects about Earth and its natural phenomena.

Prep - Year 2: Investigating Earth's Natural Resources

Our youngest scientists have been exploring earth's natural resources and their properties. Using magnifying glasses and magnets, they have been testing and examining different materials, such as wood and metals. These activities are fostering their curiosity and understanding of the world around them.

Year 3/4: Discovering Erosion, Glaciers, and Volcanoes

Students in Year 3 and 4 have been delving into the fascinating topics of water erosion, glaciers, and volcanoes. Through experiments and interactive lessons, they are learning how these natural processes shape our planet over time.

Year 5/6: Researching Geological Changes and Extreme Weather

Our Year 5 and 6 students have been conducting in-depth research on geological changes, including earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, and tsunamis. Additionally, they have been studying extreme weather events, such as tornadoes and hurricanes, and comparing the impacts of these natural phenomena. Their findings have been both enlightening and impressive.
