Principal's Message

As the 2024 Paris Olympics come to an end, we are once again reminded of how the Games bring out the best in humanity. The Olympics are not just a showcase of athletic prowess and competition, but a celebration of human spirit, determination, and resilience. It's in the stories of these athletes that we find inspiration, not just in the medallists, but in every participant who has overcome challenges to represent their countries on the world stage.

In many ways, the Olympics are like a school. Each athlete, like each student, has unique strengths and talents. They compete in different fields, each striving to do their best. Just as students excel in subjects like math, science, or the arts, athletes shine in their respective sports, whether it be swimming, running, or gymnastics.

The story of Simone Biles is just one example, an American gymnast, who has continued to defy the odds and push the boundaries of her sport. After stepping back from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to focus on her mental health, she has made a triumphant return in Paris. Her journey is a testament to the importance of mental well-being and the power of resilience.

This example and countless others like it, such as Yaylagul Ramazanova (Azerbaijan archer), Nada Hafez (Egyptian fencer), Zhiying Zeng (Chilean Table Tennis) and Yusuf Dikec (Turkish shooter), remind us that the Olympics are about more than just winning medals. They are about celebrating the human journey, the shared struggles and triumphs, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence. Much like our students, these athletes experience wins and losses, moments of triumph and times when their best efforts don't lead to victory. But in every situation, there are lessons to be learned, resilience to be built, and character to be forged.

In life, if we use school and sports as an example, the true measure of success is not always found on the podium. It's found in the personal bests, the moments of pushing beyond perceived limits, and the courage to compete despite the odds. Failure to win a medal, while disheartening, does not diminish the value of striving and achieving one's personal best.

Life, as we know, isn't always fair. Not every hard-working student gets a perfect score or grade, and not every dedicated athlete wins a medal. But the effort, the learning, and the personal growth that come from trying are invaluable. These experiences teach us resilience, humility, and the importance of perseverance. They remind us that the journey and the process of striving are where true growth and fulfillment lie.

Thank You for a Wonderful Trivia Night!

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Parents Association for organising such a fantastic trivia night last Saturday. It was an evening filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit.

A special thank you goes to Elissa Welson for coordinating the event so seamlessly. We also deeply appreciate the support of Michelle Carmusciano, who played a crucial role in liaising with staff to ensure everything ran smoothly, and to all those within the PA who assisted to ensure the night was a huge success. Your hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed.

We are incredibly grateful to all the individuals and businesses who were generous with their donations to the school. Your contributions made the event even more special and successful.

Thank you once again to everyone involved. I’m pleased to announce that the school raised in excess of $10,000, which will be utilised to ensure the students benefit from all the money raised. Your efforts and support are what make our school community so wonderful.
