St Ed's Athletics Carnival
What a fabulous day we had last Thursday for our annual St Edward’s Athletics Carnival. The sun was out and so were the smiles and sportsmanship of our students. We were very excited to be able to hold a full carnival, with both the tug of war and the parent teacher races being the highlight for many. A massive thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success. Without the help of our P&F, teachers, support staff, parents and McCarthy students, days like this can’t go ahead.

Penrith Netball Trip
A massive congratulations and thank you to all students who trialled for the Penrith Netball trip. It was a very difficult decision to make the selection, especially the 8/9 year team. I was overwhelmed by the number of students who trialled for this age group. St Edward's Netball club is in good hands with the up and coming talent.

Basketball Teams Comp 2
The Primary School Basketball Comp 2 starts on Thursday 8th August and finishes on Thursday 7th November. Semi Finals, Prelims and Grand Finals: Thursday 14th, 21st & 28th November. If you have not received an email to register your team, please email Mrs Gippel so she can arrange this. The Tigers and the Opals will be made up from other schools to get the 8 players to be able to register. Please remember, your team will not be in the draw unless a minimum of 8 players are registered.
Competition Fees – This covers the costs of court hire, referee pay, Glory League, court supervisors etc.
Junior Primary School Comp Fees: $160 (each player to pay Primary Comp Fees when joining their team). This equates to $11.43 per game per player.
Personal Registration Fees – This is your player registration with both BNSW and TBA
and is paid every 12 months. If you are not registered, your registration has expired or is soon to be expired, you will be required to renew your registration when joining your team.
Personal Registration Fees are separate to Junior Competition Fees.

St Edward's Representative Shirts
Please keep a lookout for these in your cupboards, school bags, dirty clothes baskets, even under beds. We are still missing a considerable amount of shirts which will be required to be handed back in this term.
AFL
Tamworth AFL are thrilled to introduce a new addition to their AFL team, Lachie Inkster-Bennetts, who will be joining them full-time in the North West from 1 July 2024. Lachie brings a wealth of AFL experience, having played, captained, and coached in Sydney and the North West. Many of us may already know him from his role as the playing coach of the Senior Men’s team at the Tamworth Swans, where he has been making significant strides.
Previously, Lachie served as our Development Officer in Sydney from August 2018 to November 2020, during which time he demonstrated his dedication to nurturing the growth of AFL at grassroots levels.
Tamworth AFL are excited about the opportunities Lachie will bring to expand AFL in our region. His passion and commitment are evident, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on the local AFL community. St Ed's will Have Lachie visiting our school over the next two weeks at our assemblies.

Is your child interested in playing rep touch in 2024/25? Teams will have the opportunity to attend the following carnivals - Scone Gala Day (late November) - Northern Eagles Junior Regionals in Coffs Harbour (early February) - Junior State Cup in Dubbo (Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd February, 2025) Players need to be registered in our upcoming competitions to qualify for our representative teams. Please note that the session planned for tomorrow (Sunday 28th July) has been postponed due to the weather. NEW DATE & TIME - Sunday 4th August - 12:30-2pm Is your child interested in trialling for the Tamworth Titans Junior Rep teams for 2025? We will be holding our final development training in the lead up to our selection trials in August. These sessions are designed to help players improve their touch footy skills. So bring your child along on Sunday 4th August at 12:30pm.

The Armidale Diocesan Primary Sports Council is a body representative of the Catholic Education Office, Principals and Sports Coordinators from all Diocesan Primary Schools. The ADPSC offers a pathway for Armidale Diocesan students in most sports.
