Good Afternoon Parents/Carers,
Small Schools Soccer Knockout
11 students from Yrs 4-6 were selected to play in the Small Schools Soccer Knockout in Gunnedah last Friday against Boggabri PS. Congratulations to our team who are through to the next round of competition. It was a nail-biting game Well done. I was particularly impressed with how all students conducted themselves with exceptional behaviour. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of the day. Also, thank you to the parents who transported our students. We would not be able to compete without you.
NRL Inspire Health & Wellbeing Program
Our 2/3/4 and 5/6 class had a great time when the NRL came to visit us last Wednesday. Thank you to Trent, Brad, Jan and Jo from the NRL Inspire Health & Wellbeing program for teaching us about resilience, gratitude and support.
Zone Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to Ashton, James, Lachy and Lebron (Senior Boys Relay Team) who came second in the 100m relay and are now off to compete in the New England Northwest competition for a chance to be selected for state competition. Well done boys. Also, a big congratulations to all of our competitors on the day who competed against a very tough field. We are very proud of your efforts.
Winter Illnesses
With the number of illnesses that are occurring at the moment I would like to thank Parents and Caregivers for actively keeping our school safe and stopping the spread by keeping children home who are unwell. It is greatly appreciated, and we hope those who are ill recover quickly and return to us soon.
Public Education Week 2024 "Open Day"
We are celebrating Public Education Week this week. This year's theme is "Proud to Belong". Public Education Week is when we celebrate and acknowledge all those who contribute to our children and young people’s educational journey. School staff, parents and carers, community leaders and P&C associations all play an important role in our students' education. We will be holding an "Open Day" this Friday 9th August from 12:30pm. We will have open classrooms, a free BBQ Lunch (cooked by the Lions Club of Werris Creek) and an Assembly to finish off the day. All welcome to attend.
Book Week 2024
Due to unforseen circumstances we have had to postpone Book Week and will now be celebrating Book Week from Monday, 19th August through to Friday, 23rd August. This year's theme is "Reading Is Magic". We will be holding our Book Parade on Wednesday, 21st August at 2:00pm. We invite our students to dress up as their favourite character on this day and parade around the middle terrace with their classmates. A $10 book voucher is on offer for the best dressed costume in each year group. We welcome all of our school community to come and see the fabulous array of costumes.
Book Fair 2024
To coincide with Book Week 2024, our Library will be hosting a Book Fair with the theme of "Garden - Catch the reading bug" in Week 5, Monday, 19th August to Friday, 23rd August. We invite you to come and purchase books for your children and see our fantastic garden display. Thank you to Ms Schumann for organising and running the fair. It takes quite a bit of organisation to make this happen and we appreciate your efforts. Times for purchasing books can be found on our calendar.
Kind regards
