This week's notes

Reminders

Monday morning assemblies

From now on Monday morning assemblies will start at 8:50am.  Please ensure that your child is at school in time for assembly.

Parent/Carer Survey

At this stage we have had only one family complete the Parent Survey.  We would really appreciate other families completing this to help us improve across all areas of our school. The Survey will be open until Friday 30th August.  Information on uEducateUs.

Years 5 & 6 - excursion to Balmoral K-12 College - Monday 12th August

Our Years 5 & 6 will be heading up to Balmoral K-12 College next Monday to participate in a Science Week lesson.  All parents have consented for their child to attend.  Official winter school uniform would be great if possible.

Phonemic Awareness/Spelling F-6

Starting Monday at 9.00am the whole school will be completing phonemic awareness/spelling lessons. Every child has been assessed and grouped according to skill level. We will run these 30 minute sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 9.00am. We are hoping to include a Tuesday session in the very near future.

We will be following a direct instruction model, using the Sounds Write and Spelling Mastery programs. These programs are sequential. To get the most out of these programs, student attendance is essential for success. We will be ringing our bell at 8:50am to mark attendance, and ensure that students can be organised, in groups and ready for learning by 9.00am.

Stadium Refurbishment & Fire Protection

We are very happy to inform our school community that we have received notification from the Department of Education that our funding has finally been approved for fire protection for our school which means that our stadium refurbishment can begin.  Alan from A.A. Turner Pty Ltd has been appointed as the Contractor to complete the works. Alan is looking at starting the works in November.  We will inform you all of any other details as they come to hand.

Book Week Dress Up Day

Thursday 22nd August will be our Book Week dress up day. As in the past, children are encouraged to dress up as a book character. The theme this year is 'Reading is Magic'.

The students always look forward to this day and get great enjoyment out of trying to work out which book character each other are!

Congratulations

We would like to congratulate Rick and Marni Luhrs on being awarded Australia's top performing lamb producer for 2024 in the Lambex AMPC Feedlot Carcasse Competition. What a wonderful achievement.  Congratulations to you both.

Have a great weekend.

Warmest regards,

Kate Steele
