Hello from our students and teachers

Respect, Responsibility and Kindness

Hello from Room 08 - Grade 1/2 D with Mrs. D!

Welcome back to the Third Term of the year! We are finally getting there! Two more terms to go! Wooohooo! It's been a great 'settling' and 'transitioning' week but with some cold, flu and health issues. So please be safe, eat good healthy food and stay hydrated:

Investigations

It was NAIDOC Week, last week! We are excited to tell you that our class have learnt about the importance of NAIDOC Week and why do we celebrate it. Did you know it use to be celebrated on the month of January? Then was changed to July? Here is the video link that you could use to watch at home, with your children. ^_^ (Just click on the picture. Thank you!)

Last term, one of our classmates, Dakota, taught us how to use a Boomerang respectfully and properly. We learnt that Boomerangs were used for hunting. For this term, we have coloured our own boomerangs, kindly have a look and let us know how did we go?

Writing

We have been introduced to the world of 'genre' pronounced as (zhon·ruh):

We are now in the process to learn more about the difference between fiction and non-fiction books/ texts. We are thrilled to know more about them! ^__^

Reading

Additionally, we have been learning about the Author's purpose of writing the book that we are reading. Our teacher has given as an acronym to remember it easily... Can you guess what would the acronym be? Well.... it's PIE! As in Persuade, Inform and Entertain! Next week we are adding another E and D! (Not Emergency Department. haha)

Therefore...

The key question to ask us when we are doing our reading at night: Why did the author write the book? Then kindly ask for the evidence: Why do you think that?

Mathematics

For Math, we are learning to draw and name features on a map. For now, we have been making our Anchor chart about Maps! How did we go?

Lastly... guess what? We might go on a Treasure Hunt next week!

Have a wonderful, safe and warm weekend from all of us!
