Hello, from Carolyn.

Respect, responsibility and kindness

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to a very chilly start to the term! You can certainly tell which of our students have lived locally for a long time as they are often the ones turning up in their school polo shirt, shorts and NO JUMPER!! Brrrr!!!

It has been great to see the number of students who have remembered the importance of wearing their school uniform, and thank you to all of you for reinforcing that message. As our students don't need to wear their school hats it is time for you to make sure their school hat is ready to wear by Mid August when the UV levels can often be high enough that we are required to wear sun protection. Your child's hat should be clean with no writing all over it, and in good repair, so no cuts or rips.  Replacement hats can be purchased from Noone.

School Crossing safety.

Please read the following important information to make sure you are following the road rules when picking up and dropping off your child/ren. Following the road rules makes an accident less likely and we want everyone to be safe coming and going from our school.

  1. Respect and follow parking signs. It is important that parents park legally to provide a safer environment for children. Double parking restricts the view of drivers, forces children onto the road and obstructs the flow of traffic. Parking within 20 metres before a designated school crossing or 10 metres after is illegal. Only park in the designated parking places.
  2. 40 km/h speed around our school. The speed limit on the streets around our school is always 40km/h. Stick to 40km/h or less!
  3. Children crossing flags. When the flags are displayed at a children’s crossing, you must stop for pedestrians who are waiting to cross or who have started crossing. You must remain stopped until the crossing is clear. These rules apply even if there is no crossing supervisor.
  4. No Parking signs. Do not park in any area where a 'No Parking' sign is displayed.

5. No Stopping signs. You  must not stop at the kerb for any reason. This means, don't pull in to let your child in or out of the car, even if you think you won't be long.

School Council.

We have added a 'School Council' page to our newsletter so you can learn more about the work we do and who you to approach if would like to raise something to be discussed at a meeting.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support. (SWPBS)

Last term I sent out a survey link asking for your feedback about how we might define minor and major behaviour incidents at our school. The survey is now closed, thank you to those of you who responded. Our staff and students have also completed the survey. Once our SWPBS team has collated the information we will include it in our newsletter.

Don't forget, the Smile Squad free school dental program is coming to our school soon!

This means ALL students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.

We had to cancel last term's 'Coffee and a Chat' due to illness amongst nearly everyone! We are trying again on Thursday 5th September. Add the date to your diary and come along!
