Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
A warm welcome to Week 4! We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather we are experiencing at the moment.
Mary MacKillop
Mary MacKillop is Australia's first and only saint. Mary MacKillop died in Sydney on August 8, 1909. She was canonised as Saint Mary of the Cross on October 17, 2010. Together with Julian Tenison-Woods, she founded Australia's first religious order, the Sisters of St Joseph (the Josephites). The Josephites were a congregation of religious sisters that established a number of schools including our school here in Tamworth and welfare institutions throughout Australia and New Zealand, with an emphasis on education. We are fortunate to have Sister Kathryn with us as she continues the work of the Josephites in our school and Parish communities. Stage 3 celebrated the feast day of Mary MacKillop by attending Mass with our Parish community last Thursday 8th August at 9:00am. Thank you to Father Sabu for celebrating Mass and for his informative homily for our students.
Parents & Friends Association
This Friday we will have the opportunity to taste the many culinary delights from the recent P&F Pie Drive. A massive thank you to our hardworking P&F members who have organised this event for us. The P&F Association plays an important role in supporting our school and we encourage everyone to be involved and continue supporting these wonderful fundraising efforts for our school.
Staffing News
Mrs Emily Sullivan, our Inclusion Support Teacher will be taking maternity leave at the end of this week. We wish her and her family all the very best and look forward to meeting the new baby in the not too distant future.
Congratulations to Miss Phoebe George who has been appointed as our new IST, replacing Mrs Sullivan for the remainder of the year and into 2025. As the IST position is part-time, Miss George will continue teaching Kindergarten on Mondays and Fridays, and on Tuesday - Thursday Mrs Melissa Crittenden will be teaching the class. Additionally, Miss George will be team teaching with Mrs Crittenden during English on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Mr Luke Paterson is currently on extended leave due to an unwelcome knee injury. We hope to have Mr Paterson back with us before the end of term, but in the meantime we are very grateful to have Mrs Andy Lockwood replacing him in Stage 3.
Wishing all members of the St Joseph's School community all the best for a great week.
