Principal's Message

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Across the first three weeks of school our Year 1/ 2 students and Year 3/4 students participated in swimming lessons at HILAC. Students are to be commended on the way that they approached these lessons - showing a positive attitude, listening intently to instructions and taking on feedback. As a result they have made terrific progress. We would like to thank the wonderful instructors from HILAC for their patience, support and commitment to helping our students improve. We are very lucky to have this facility and calibre of instructors available to our community. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the many parents and family members who made time to come and help out or watch their child. We loved being able to share your child’s progress with you.
On Wednesday our Year 6 Netball Team participated in the school netball round robin at Pedrina Park. Although the morning was quite crisp the frost disappeared for a beautiful day to be on the court. Under Mrs Brabham’s leadership the team did exceptionally well. Out of 9 games the girls played 7 and finished in second position to Ballarat. The girls are to be commended on their sportsmanship, enthusiasm and willingness to play where ever they were required. Congratulations girls, and thankyou to Samantha Sartin for umpiring.
This week we saw our Prep students celebrate 100 days of being at school. It was with great excitement that they greeted each other and staff with “Happy 100 Day” throughout the morning whilst engaging in a range of learning activities to celebrate this significant milestone. The Prep team should be exceptionally proud of the progress these little people are making in learning and making friends.
As we head into Week 4 of the term we welcome back Mr Watt and Mrs Beaton from Long Service Leave. Mrs Beaton will be returning to the 1/2 room with Mrs Clark. Mr Watt will resume his role as Phys Ed Teacher from Monday – Wednesday, and will commence a role as Year 5/6 classroom teacher on Thursday and Friday alongside Mrs Murray. We would like to thank Mrs Kelson and Mrs McGinley for being part of our teaching team across the last few weeks, and look forward to having them both back as CRTs across the term.
Finally a reminder to families that Monday is a Curriculum Day for Staff. No Students are required at school. Staff will be using this day to focus on our approaches to inclusive practices and the effective teaching of maths across the school. These focus areas are both part of our school’s current Strategic Plan as we work towards strengthening our learning and wellbeing approaches.
