Kytte wins National Bullriding Comp - ABCRA National Finals Rodeo, Tamworth!

St Stephen’s student Kytte has turned his passion for bullriding into an outstanding achievement this season. After briefly relocating to St Brendan’s College in Yeppoon to further his training, he returned home to be closer to family and continue competing locally.
At the start of the year, Kytte set himself the ambitious goal of winning a buckle. With only limited rodeo experience, his family encouraged him to focus on learning and to aim for a few strong rides. But his dedication soon proved exceptional. He committed hours each week to drop‑barrel practice, core training and bucking his bullock at home.
A turning point came when he attended the Gary Leffew Bullriding School in Tamworth, where he gained valuable skills and confidence. Soon after, he began placing consistently and capped off the North Queensland season with an impressive second place - just shy of the buckle.
Motivated by the near miss, Kytte chased points for the Australian Title. To fund travel to southern events, he took an after‑school job at a local engineering shop. In his first major arena appearance he battled nerves, but across the three‑day competition he delivered a crucial qualifying ride that kept him in front and ultimately secured the Australian Title.
Kytte says the achievement still feels surreal, and he’s already aiming higher—toward earning a buckle on the world stage.
Congratulations, Kytte - we can't wait to hear more about your future achievements.

We also congratulate Joel Jaszczyszyn, who came 7th in the average for the 11-U14 Mini Bulls, whilst also riding in the 11-U14 Junior Steers.
