Library News - A Brilliant Start to 2026!

The Library has had an energetic and joyful start to the school year, and we are thrilled to share some highlights from the past few weeks.
Library Lovers’ Day & Blind Date With a Book
Our Library Lovers’ Day celebrations were a hit once again! Students eagerly embraced our Blind Date with a Book display, borrowing the mystery-wrapped titles with enthusiasm. Many returned surprised and delighted by stories they might never have chosen for themselves. It’s always wonderful to see students stepping outside their reading comfort zone.
A Massive First Week of Borrowing
The first week of school is always our busiest, and this year was no exception. Hundreds of textbooks were loaned out to students across all year levels, ensuring everyone was equipped and ready to learn from day one. We are also celebrating an incredible start to recreational borrowing—our shelves have been constantly in motion as students dive into new reads.
Year 10 Laptop Swap Success
Our Year 10 students took part in the annual laptop exchange, returning their old devices and collecting their new ones smoothly and efficiently. A big thank-you to everyone involved for helping the process run seamlessly.
Senior Book Club Begins
Our first Senior Book Club meeting for 2026 was held in week 2, welcoming students from Years 10–12. With pastries in hand, we kicked off our 8:00am breakfast gathering with lively discussion about our current reads. The range of perspectives shared by students always makes these mornings special. Senior Book Club meets twice each term—at both the beginning and the end—to reflect on the books we’ve explored.
Lunchtime Activities in Full Swing
The Library continues to be a vibrant hub during breaks. Along with study, reading, and borrowing, students have enjoyed a wide selection of lunchtime activities, including: board games, LEGO building, jigsaw puzzles.
Our screens have also been showing the Winter Olympics during recess, drawing enthusiastic crowds cheering on their favourite athletes.
Readers Cup: Registrations Coming Soon
There is more excitement ahead! Later this term we will open registration for the Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Readers Cup teams. Students who love reading, teamwork, and a bit of friendly competition are encouraged to get involved.
Happy reading!
