Ms Sonya Barnes, Middle Leader Pastoral - Augustine
Welcome to all our new students and families who have joined Augustine House in 2026. A special welcome to our Year 7 students as they begin their secondary school journey with us. It has been wonderful to see how quickly you have settled in. We also warmly welcome new students in other year levels. We are so pleased you are part of our House community.
We are also excited to welcome new Augustine Home Form teachers to the team: Jason Atkins, Martin Burke, Rachel Brown and Tyson Manly. We are grateful for the energy and care they bring to our students each day.
Our Year 12 House Leaders, Ava Phillips and Jasmin Sayed, have made an outstanding start. They planned and ran their first House Assembly with confidence and organisation, and they have been fantastic leaders to work alongside. At the recent Leadership Camp, the Augustine student leaders came together to set goals for the year. I was incredibly impressed by their ideas, maturity and vision for the House. Their overarching goal for 2026 is simple but powerful: participation + fun. It is a goal that reflects exactly the kind of culture we want to build.
The Opening School Mass was a beautiful occasion. It was with great pride that I watched our Augustine Year 12 students accept their leadership badges. These badges represent more than a role. They symbolise service, responsibility and the example they set for others.
The Swimming Carnival was a wonderful display of House spirit. I am so proud to share that Augustine finished 2nd overall. This result reflects not only strong performances in the pool, but also the encouragement, cheering and willingness of students to get involved. Participation truly makes a difference.

This year, my hope is to continue building a culture in Augustine that values both achievement and character. We grow this culture by showing respect in classrooms, supporting one another and wearing our uniform with pride. I have already seen many examples of this from our students, and it has been encouraging to witness.
Thank you to our students, staff and families for such a positive start to 2026. I look forward to seeing Augustine continue to grow in spirit, participation and pride throughout the year.
Kind regards,
Ms Sonya Barnes
