From the Principal

Dear families,
We are well and truly in the swing of things here at school. Today I am in Narrandera with Eli and Charlie who were successful in trying out for the RAP Cricket Team, and I know that many other students were successful in basketball. I was very proud of all our students who tried out. It takes great courage to put yourself out there and compete at any level. I was sorry to miss the Swimming Carnival due to illness, but all reports were of a successful event that was enjoyed by all. Thank you to Mrs Sloan and her team for a fantastic day and best wishes to the students who are moving to the next level at Barellan next week.
Excursions are coming thick and fast. We will continue to make each excursion as cost effective for families as we can while also providing as many opportunities to learn beyond the school gate as well as within it.
The note has gone out for the Stage 4 and 5 HSIE trip to Lake Mungo in Week 10. As is the case with residential trips we are asking for a parent contribution of $150 per student and school will cover all other costs. This being the case, if you are unable to cover this, please do not hesitate to make a time to see me to discuss options for support.
High Performance and Gifted Education (HPGE)
We are committed to supporting all students in engaging with areas that both interest them and allow them to show their skills and knowledge. Areas that are being explored by some students this term alone include the world of esports, visual arts, dance, sport, and public speaking. If your child is interested in an area that we are not aware of and as a school we can help them explore and grow, please contact us and let us know.
Learning and Support
Mrs Kroek, our Learning and Support Teacher has been busy getting to know students and starting to reach out to families. She is in at ACS on a Wednesday and Thursday to help support all our students and families. Abby, our School Psychologist, is in every second Tuesday on even weeks. She has sent home some notes to families to get additional information as required. Shaye Palmer from Murrumbidgee Health is working with some of our families in the K-3 space as part of the Getting on Track in Time (Got It!) program. This is a great program that allows for us to get links with NSW Health at school. We also have an amazing team of SLSOs who work tirelessly to support students both in the classroom and the playground. I want to give a shout out to the learning and support team for all they do.
Phones
A friendly reminder that phones are not required at school and should be locked in lockers if they are at school. A massive thank you to all the students who are doing the right thing.
P&C
Monday night saw the first P&C meeting of the year. The new time of 6:00pm seemed to support a greater number of parents being able to attend and it was great to see some dads there as well. Please feel free to remind members of the community that the 'C' is about Citizens, and community members are welcome. There is a nominal joining fee each year and we would love to see the load of fundraising be shared among more members.
