This week in Maths, K/1/2 have been learning about patterns. We have been using terms such as “unit of repeat” which means the thing that repeats each time. We know that patterns are linear, and the unit of repeat must be in the same order each time. We have made patterns with movement, we have manipulated many classroom items to make patterns and then looked at colour patterns.

In Year 1/2 we look at more formal number patterns where skip counting is used. We link multiplication and addition to these patterns.

We also use a lot of discussion to reason why a pattern is a pattern and what is NOT an example of a pattern. We discuss what being successful looks like in our independent tasks - you may hear this term used at home!
