Outstanding Routines and Transitions

A huge shout out to 1W this week! They have been working incredibly hard to establish their daily routines. Their calm, respectful transitions are helping them stay engaged and creating a positive, settled start to learning each day. Part of these routines includes lining up calmly, transitioning smoothly into the school building and classroom, and setting themselves up ready to learn. This week, 1W have demonstrated these expectations beautifully. To celebrate this fantastic achievement, every student in 1W has been awarded a house token. Congratulations 1W!

Child Safety at Our School – 11 Months, 11 Standards

This year, our school is taking part in “11 Months, 11 Standards”, an initiative that helps us strengthen our child‑safe culture by focusing on one Child Safe Standard each month. These standards guide all Victorian schools in creating environments where children are safe, respected, and supported.

Across the year, we will share information about each standard with our community, including what it means, why it matters, and how we put it into practice at school.

Child Safe Standard 1

Organisations establish a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.

At St Mary’s, this means we are committed to:

  • creating spaces where Aboriginal children feel safe, seen, and respected
  • valuing culture, identity, and connection to community
  • embedding inclusive practices across learning and wellbeing
  • ensuring our policies and actions reflect cultural safety for all students

Throughout the year, we will continue to share resources, updates, and examples of how each standard is being lived out in our school community.
