From School Leadership

Dear Families,

As we enter the season of Lent, we are reminded that this is a special time of reflection, growth and preparation. Lent invites us to think beyond ourselves and consider how we can live with greater kindness, compassion and generosity. Traditionally, we may give up something important to us, but more importantly, we are encouraged to give more of ourselves. Our time, our patience, and our care for others. Fr John finished his Homily by asking us to give thought to how we are going to include more prayer, self sacrifice and acts of charity into our lives this Lenten season. As a school community, this is a beautiful opportunity to practise selflessness, support those in need, and strengthen the spirit of service that brings us together.

What stands out to me most at St Leonard’s is the way in which our students care and ‘look out’ for one another. Ensuring our approach to Social and Emotional learning filters through all parts of our day, not just our explicit teaching component.

Our students are constantly looking for ways to give back to our school and our local community. We have kids giving up their break to support ‘The Guardians of St Leonard's’, rehearsing for Wakakerri and advocate for our community through our Mini Vinnies program, amongst many others.

Watching our students, led wonderfully by our staff, follow in the footsteps of Jesus is what sets our community apart. No one is afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. What a beautiful place to be!

Have a great week,

Alyce
