Visual Arts Update 🎨
We have made a fantastic start to the year in Visual Arts as students across the school have been exploring colour theory and the elements and principles of art. Our focus has been on understanding warm and cool colours, complementary colours, and how artists use colour, line, shape and movement to create exciting artworks.
Our senior students have been exploring abstract collage, beginning with expressive watercolour paintings. Once complete, these artworks were cut and rearranged to form bold, imaginative collages that celebrate colour and shape.
In the junior grades, students had a fantastic time experimenting with Gelli pads to create textured and colourful backgrounds for their portrait artworks. They also worked on symmetry drawings using a grid to help replicate the shapes of their chosen artwork. These lessons encouraged students to explore line, pattern and colour while building confidence and creativity.
It has been wonderful to see students experimenting, taking risks, and expressing themselves through art. We are very proud of the enthusiasm and creativity shown in the Visual Arts room this term!
