Principal Reflections
Dear Parents and Carers,
Term Three Progress Meetings
St Edward's School is very focussed on student improvement.
This term, you will have the opportunity to meet with your child's teacher in order to discuss their learning progress. This meeting is important, not only for reviewing your child's current progress, but also for coming up with strategies to ensure continued growth.
At the meeting you will receive your child's Term 3 learning progress report. The progress report is a document that shows the progress that your child is making towards completing the learning requirements for their grade. Progress reports give an overview to parents on how well their child is doing in school. They also provide an opportunity for the student and teacher to share priority areas for improvement for the next term. Please note these meetings are three way conferences, involving the parent/carer, child and teacher.
To date there have been over 300 parents who have booked in to see their child's teacher. If you haven't booked your spot yet, please do so. If you are having technical difficulties, please contact our office for support.
Previously, parents who have made appointments to attend these meetings with their child and teacher have found them very beneficial. In fact, all parents who completed the survey in Term 1 rated these meetings as a 4 or 5, stating that they loved the opportunity to meet and discuss their child's future learning goals.
Right to Disconnect Laws
On Monday, new legislation in regards to employees' right to disconnect came into effect. The main focus of the legislation is to support employees' ability to disconnect from work demands during personal time.
From a school perspective, it is important to clarify this legislation also encompasses parents contacting staff after hours.
St Edward's School is extremely fortunate to have a parent community who is committed to supporting both their child in their learning and our staff as professionals. Thank you for being committed to your child’s education, while also trusting our staff as professionals with the ability to disconnect during their personal time.
Kindergarten 2025
Children who participate in a well-structured Kinder Transition Program often demonstrate increased confidence, better social integration, and a smoother adjustment to the new learning environment. These programs lay the groundwork for positive attitudes toward school and are a key predictor of long-term academic success. I would like to thank the parent community for their ongoing support of our Kindergarten Transition Program. We look forward to continuing our work in this space to ensure a successful transition to school in 2025 for all.
