Mental Maths @ Home

Throughout the second semester, and as mathematical concepts become more difficult, it is important that students are continuing to work on their basic number facts at home to support this learning. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are skills used across numerous mathematics concepts and are the keys to success when looking at more complex equations. Having the ability to mentally solve basic number facts is extremely helpful!

Ways to practise at home:

  • Flashcards
  • Mathletics (students can login at home)
  • Posters
  • Dinner table conversations/games
  • Memory card games
  • Games in the car - e.g. using number plates for number recognition, ordering numbers, adding numbers etc.
