Ryan’s Rambling

Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

One of the most wondrous and fabulous weeks of the year; Book Week. At Dana Street, we have celebrated this fantastic week with a number of key activities.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the Incursions held yesterday and today. I don’t believe I have ever met a child who doesn’t love seeing stories come alive through performance, interaction or song.  I have a soft spot for The Wizard of Oz and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, so it was great to hear about those particular stories being the focus of the incursions.

Our week culminated in the Book Week Parade and Read In. Thank you to the many parents and family members who took the time to attend our special assembly. The assembly was followed by many fun and engaging activities across classrooms in line with some of the new books we have read this week.

Next Friday, we have our annual Community/Fathers’ Day Breakfast and open morning. We welcome all parents to come along! At Dana Street, we acknowledge “The Village” of people it takes to raise a child and it’s great to make time to celebrate those people. Please remember to order breakfast by 9am on Wednesday 28th of August, to give us enough time to prepare everything. Cash sales will not be available on the day, just like last year. There will be a coffee van on site, also. The breakfast will begin from 8am. From 9am, we welcome families into classrooms for an Open Morning, where we are hoping that as many special family members will be able to join their children in some fun learning activities. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Finally, the weather has been intermittent again this week. At times, the warmth of spring seems to grace us with its sought-after presence, only to be swept away by rain or cloud. Hopefully, we will see more consistent warmer weather soon!

Have a fantastic weekend 😊

Ryan
