Principal Message
Dear Families,
Foundation 2025: Great to see some of our 2025 ‘Little Grovers’ at school this week. We hope the beginning of transition has started well and as we progress, keep the communication channels open. No doubt the new students will be excited, and it may be a novelty, but keep talking positively about Primary School and enjoy the remaining time in Kinder too! Thanks to the current Foundation team for welcoming the newbies and helping them transition into school life.
2025 Foundation Team: With Megan King expecting a baby later this year, there will be at least one change to the current Foundation team. We haven’t finalised this as yet but will very soon. We currently have about 80 enrolments which equates to approximately 4 classes of 20 at this stage. If you know of a family who may have forgotten to enrol, please give them a gentle nudge so we can keep planning. Thank you for your help.
Family details: Please ensure we have your up-to-date address, email, phone number and emergency contact details. If we cannot contact you in the event of an illness or similar, we will call your emergency contact person. Also with the new School Saving Bonus, information will be emailed to the email address that we currently have on file. No one wants to miss out on the $400. Please do not try to update your records via Sentral, please phone the school admin office with any adjustments. Keep your eyes out for more information regarding the School Saving Bonus in the near future.
Illness: We appear to be like so many other schools, in that we are experiencing illness and absenteeism. We are also experiencing staff illness too and Mrs H always tries her best to secure Casual Relief Teachers (CRT’s). Sometimes we are unable to get them and have to split classes which is not ideal. We appreciate the way students have adapted and continued their learning when in a different classroom.
Congratulations: To our students who use the oval each day, can I commend you on the way you are playing respectfully and adapting to the new rules to ensure no tackling. It is greatly appreciated and a very noticeable improvement. Well done.
Trivia night: A sincere thanks to the wonderful P&F team who planned and delivered another social event for the families. I was very impressed with the themed costumes and hope some parents might join in the Book Week parade next year!!! Thanks to all who attended, and I hope you had a great night and cemented more friendships and memories along the way.
Swimming: Despite the howling wind and the bus breaking down, we were still able to continue with swimming this week. Thankyou to the volunteers who help us each day and to the staff and CRT’s who juggle the day to squeeze it all in. Not long to go now!
Somers Camp: An exciting opportunity has arisen for some of our Year 5 & 6 students to put in an expression of interest to attend Somers Camp. The camp runs from the 3rd of December to the 11th of December and is situated in Western Port Bay, 80 kilometres from Melbourne. The camp cost is $260 and provides an opportunity for social interaction between children drawn from many schools and presents a variety of challenging situations through outdoor education and contact with the local environment. Please contact the school office with your child's expression of interest by 12 noon this Friday 6th September.
Have a great week everyone.
