EVERYDAY COUNTS

Regular attendance at school is crucial for your child's academic success and social development. We understand that there are times when students may fall ill or have important appointments. If your child is unwell or has an appointment, please inform the school as soon as possible. Consistent communication helps us ensure the safety and well-being of all our students. Let’s work together to make your child’s education a top priority and ensure they take full advantage of the learning opportunities available to them.

STRENGTHENING OUR COMMITMENT TO STUDENT WELL-BEING: BERRY STREET

We are delighted to share that our staff have just completed their second Berry Street training day, focusing on building strong, positive relationships. This training is a crucial part of our commitment to ensuring that all staff are equipped to support our students effectively.

The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) is an evidence-based approach that provides strategies to help educators build positive relationships with students, enhance their social and emotional learning, and improve their overall well-being. The training covers five key domains: Body, Relationship, Stamina, Engagement, and Character. These domains help educators create a supportive and structured environment where students can thrive.

The recent training day concentrated on the "Relationship" domain, which emphasizes the importance of developing trust and positive interactions between students and staff. By understanding and implementing these principles, our teachers can better support students' emotional needs, leading to a more inclusive and nurturing school environment.

We are excited about the positive impact this training will have on our school community. It ensures that our staff are not only well-prepared to support students academically but also equipped to foster a safe and supportive learning environment. This comprehensive approach is essential for helping students feel connected and valued, which is fundamental to their success.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing the benefits of this training reflected in our students’ well-being and academic achievements.

BOOK WEEK

Banyan Fields is thrilled to participate in this year's Book Week celebration! It has been absolutely delightful to see both our students and staff embrace the spirit of the event by dressing up as their favourite characters from a wide variety of books. Book Week is a crucial event for children as it plays a significant role in fostering a love for literacy, both fiction and non-fiction. By immersing themselves in stories and characters, children not only enhance their reading skills but also develop a lifelong passion for exploring new ideas and perspectives. We warmly invite you to continue the celebration by visiting our Book Fair in the library at the end of each day, where you'll find an exciting selection of books to inspire and enjoy.

YEAR 6 ASSEMBLY

It was lovely to attend the Year 6 assembly this week and learn about all the exciting activities and learning experiences in their year level. In particular, it was great to see that the students have participated in a digital thumbprint program to learn about the risks of the online world. We hope they will be safe and considerate regarding what is posted on their social media groups.

PLAYGROUND RULES

Our playground rule signs have arrived to help our students understand how to play safely in the different areas around the school. We are excited to get them set up around the school in the various play areas—look out for them in the next couple of weeks. Well done to Dylan, Emily, Costa, and Aarini for your fabulous artwork; you should be incredibly proud.

SENSORY INDIGENOUS GARDEN

It was lovely to have our parents, students, and teachers attend our first planning meeting for our sensory Indigenous garden. Many great ideas were shared about what the garden should contain, from a yarning circle and smoking pit to cleanse the land to totem poles and road signs of capitals in the Aboriginal language. I am sure when we come back for our second meeting, we will have some wonderful design ideas. Watch this space!
