Many of you will have noticed Mike Kroon out on Audrey Avenue observing the crossing after school over the past few weeks. We’ve been working with Port Adelaide Enfield Council to review the safety of this crossing. The signage has been changed after new recommendations from traffic engineers, however we are still noticing cars are not always stopping to allow children and families to cross safely.
Please note that we will be moving the duty person in the ‘top’ car park, near the administration office, to now be on crossing duty on Audrey Avenue. This will be supervision only until such time as we formally train staff as crossing guards to supervise the crossing properly.
We have identified that the diagonal crossing in the car park has been much safer in recent years, with all traffic exiting at Deakin Street before and after school. This car park no longer requires a delegated adult to be there. We will also encourage any children exiting through the top car park to walk along the side of the church to avoid them having to cross through the car park without an adult.
Thank you to those families who have been sharing their feedback and experiences at the crossing with us. Should you have any concerns about the crossing, please continue to share with us, and also report to Port Adelaide Enfield Council, which helps us to advocate for safer traffic management and conditions around our school.
Please note that if you are driving in the car park, or through the kiss and drop, you should be driving at a walking pace.
This term, we welcomed Sharon Church to the St Paul staff team. Sharon is working with Reception Gracey/Watkins as classroom LSO. Please make Sharon feel welcome as you see her around the school.
Cheryl Ziegeler will be taking some well-deserved long service leave from next week until the end of Term 3. We welcome Bailey Aslander and Brandon Avery, both well-known to our SPLASH children and families, who will be taking a variety of classroom LSO and support areas through the school in place of Cheryl.
