Prep News
In MSL, we are learning about the Floss Rule. For a word to follow the Floss Rule (like the words buzz, stuff and doll), it must meet three criteria:
- have one syllable
- have a short vowel sound
- end with f, l, s, or z.
In Writing, we are practicing using the conjunction "but" to complete sentence stems, enhancing our ability to connect contrasting ideas within sentences. On Thursday, students from Prep W and Prep M came together to share their writing with each other.
Year One News
In MSL, we are learning the "Loud Cow" spelling rule. When the "ou" sound appears in the middle of a word, we use 'ou', and when it appears at the end of a word, we use 'ow'.
In Writing, students are learning to expand simple sentences by adding an adverb. They also reviewed conjunctions, using 'but' and 'because' to link two ideas.
In Respectful Relationships, students are exploring character strengths and identifying these strengths within themselves.
Year Two
In Writing, students are are learning to use commas to separate items in a list.
In Maths, the Year Two's are exploring the characteristics of polygons, with a particular focus on quadrilaterals, which are shapes with four sides. They are learning to understand the concept of parallel lines and to make real-life connections by identifying parallel lines in their environment.
Book Week Fun
A quick note to say - I will be returning to Ireland for a holiday ahead of the school break to meet my new baby nephew, Finn James Maloney. Mrs. B will be taking Prep M during the final weeks of term, along with Miss Wood and Mary. My last week will be Week 8. Thank you for your understanding and I will see you all for the start of Term 4.
