VOCABULARY
Explanation text:
A non-fiction text that explains how something works
Text Structure: the way authors organise information in a text.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask your child to explain how something works, this might be the topic they learnt about last week or something else they understand how it works. Ask them to use the structure below to write their explanation text.
Title (what the topic is about)
Introduction (introduces the topic of the text)
Paragraph (includes the explanation of how and why something occurs)
Conclusion (an interesting comment)
Diagram (a picture)
When they have finished writing their text. Ask them to check if they have the capital letters in the right place, full stops and correct spelling.
