5/6 CLASSROOM

This fortnight the Gr 5/6 ‘s have been working hard on writing a book for the GV Water competition. We have three finalists in our Grade. Stay tuned for the names.

Last week we had Charlii and Olivia’s puppy come to visit the grade with Kelly present. Although everyone was excited, Zara remained very calm.

This week we have started swimming lesson for the whole school and there will be no homework - except reading each night.

In English we have been focusing on punctuation and writing recounts and looking at the selling of words with or, ore,a and aw and moving into the graphemes of v, ve and w, wh and u.

In Mathematics the students have been working on their knowledge of patterns  and algebra so this week we start to focus on chance and probability.

This week the students are having a lot of fun at swimming. Meila says she likes having fun, Sophie likes  going down to the deep end, Mia likes having a great teacher to teach swimming. Oliver and Heath like the bus ride to and from the pool. They like that the groups are mixed between Gr 3,4,5, and 6 classes.

Cross Curriculum was on Oceans so the students ERP’s are on anything connected to the Ocean. We have students researching shells, coral, whales and jellyfish. I can not wait to see how they turn out. The Expo for this will most likely be held in Week 10 on Wednesday 18th.

On Thursday 19th of September the Gr 3- 6 students go to St Mels in Shepparton to perform their dances and songs. A reminder that there is four tickets per family and the doors open to the audience at 12:50pm

In RE the students have enjoyed learning about Life Relationships and the human body. The next unit we start is about Sacramental Life.
