Senior Years

 - Mrs Helen Reiher

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of accompanying 14 of our Year 11 students to the University of Melbourne Open Day. It was an enriching experience made even more special by the presence of last year’s Dux, Katie Richardson, who guided us through the day. Katie, who is currently thriving at the university, took us on an insightful tour, starting with the Parkville Campus, then lunch at St. Mary’s Residential College, followed by a comprehensive tour of the College. Her enthusiasm for learning and the new experiences she's embracing in Melbourne was truly inspiring.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet with past students of The Hamilton and Alexandra College who are now studying at various colleges. Without exception, the registrars and principals of these Residential Colleges had nothing but praise for our former students. They described them as community-minded, inclusive, kind, and caring individuals who are making significant contributions to their new communities. Many of our alumni are stepping into leadership roles and creating positive change in their environments, making them outstanding ambassadors for our school. This, in turn, paves the way for future students to be welcomed with open arms, continuing this wonderful legacy.

It’s not just the University of Melbourne that is recognising the exceptional quality of our students; institutions like the University of Tasmania, Monash University, La Trobe University, and Deakin University are also highly impressed by the calibre of students they receive from our school.

As our Year 12s begin the process of applying to universities, halls of residence, and workplaces, their focus is on establishing solid plans for 2025 and beyond. We are confident that, like those before them, they will continue to make us proud and carry forward the strong legacy of The Hamilton and Alexandra College.
