Clay Target Shooting

On Tuesday, August 22, the College Clay Target Team travelled to the Noorat Gun Club for the Southwest Zone School trap shooting championships.

With perfect weather and 234 students competing across the district, the day was filled with impressive performances and sportsmanship. The College team performed very well, with six senior team members making it to the State School Championships.

Congratulations to Ben Vallance on taking out High Gun with the best overall score, Lincoln Brown placing first in senior boys, and Lachlan Pringle placing second in senior boys. Along with College winning the best overall team, the team consisted of Lincoln Brown, Harry Brown, Lachlan Pringle, Joshua Pringle, and Braden Veale.

It was exciting to have Penny Smith, Bronze Medallist for clay target shooting at the Paris Olympics, presenting awards and sharing insight into her experience over her time competing.

We wish Ben Vallance, Lincoln Brown, Harry Brown, Lachlan Pringle, Joshua Pringle, and Braden Veale all the best in Echuca next Monday for the State School Championships.

Thank you to all staff and students who contributed to the day, and good luck to all students heading to the state.

Hockey

Division 1 Men

Our performance in the final game of the home and away season was disappointing.  We struggled to team together and sometimes tried to do too much individually.  We found ourselves unable to cope with a more physically strong opponent.  We didn’t seem “ready to play.”  Ciaran Nelson scored our only goal in a 1-4 loss.

This performance was a shame as we have been playing some very good hockey. We sometimes showed patches of this play on Sunday, but these patches were too brief.

Fortunately, we can redeem ourselves in next week’s semi-final. We play the same team, and the winner enters the Grand Final. There is much to play for! We need to be ready!
