Father's Day

On Friday 30th August, Upwey South P.S. held our annual Father's Day / special persons afternoon. We had a range of activities spread around our school yard that our special guests could participate in. From designing and making paper neck ties, to folding a flying paper aeroplanes, competing for top spot on the table tennis tables to acting crazy in the photo booths. 

It was a pleasure walking around and taking photos of our family groups. Thank you to all our special visitors who came on this afternoon. If you were not able to make it, I hope you all had a lovely Father's Day. 

 

And the winners are...

Thank you to the Pancake Parlour who have donated meal vouchers to our school. For the Paper Aeroplane competition and the sports comp we had a range of winners. Check out the photos below for our lucky winners.

 

Extra - Curricula activities

Aerobics

Over the past few weeks we have had many exciting extra-curricula activitires taking place. Congratulations to the Aerobics team - 'Shinning Diamonds' who competed in the Gold Coast and came 6th in Australia. The girls presented their coaches - Mrs Calvert and Ms Oliver with some very thoughtful gifts. Thank you to everyone involved. 

 

RoboCup

On Saturday 14th September, three groups of students attended the RoboCup Juniors competition. Throughout the day, each group presented 3 times and was then given the ability/time to make adjustments, re-code and re-set their props and robots. During this time our school teachers were unable to help with any of the coding, students had to work as a team to succeed on the day. It was great to see the student independently work on their robots. I enjoyed being part of this competition and walking around viewing what is being created in this robotics space. 

Thank you to Miss Oliver and Miss Bowles for giving your time and expertise to these students in the weeks leading up to the event, and then being at the tournament for morale support.
