The 3/4 students have continued to spend the rest of the term learning about heat conductivity and what it means. We have looked at which types of materials are really good conductors of heat and which types of materials are poor heat conductors. The students are now applying this knowledge and creating a 3D playground. We have spoken about making sure they don’t rush their build and have decided that they can continue to build these after the holidays. I am already impressed with what they have come up with.
The 5/6 students have spent the last few weeks of term understanding what makes a complete and incomplete circuit. They have also learned about some of the symbols that are used when drawing a circuit. They had a go creating a simulated circuit using this website https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/circuit-construction-kit-dc/latest/circuit-construction-kit-dc_all.html which was fun.
Students have also had the opportunity to have a go at creating circuits in real life, using wires and LEDs and also have had a lot of fun using our Makey Makeys. These have been a hit, they have loved being able to control their computer by creating a circuit, from the Makey Makey, their computer and a piece of fruit!! It has been so wonderful to see how engaged all the students have been with this.
