Inquiry:
Year Two students have been looking at weather patterns and the water cycle this term during Inquiry lessons. They learnt about the four main types of clouds and how rain contributes to the four phases of the water cycle. Students were exposed to technical language such as 'evaporation', 'condensation', 'precipitation', and 'collection'.
Students explored reasons why we use water personally, professionally and in our community, along with strategies we can put in place to maintain and protect this resource.
AUSLAN Day:
On Thursday 29th August, all students at Upwey South participated in a variety of activities to acknowledge. learn about and celebrate people who are hearing impaired. Students learnt about hearing impaired artists, made a butterfly (and learnt that this is the symbol that promotes hearing impaired and helps raise awareness), met with a hearing impaired author 'Kerrie' and designed a monster using sign language. Students demonstrated their knowledge of AUSLAN colours when they 'signed a rainbow' and Year Two students watched a Bluey episode called 'Turtleboy'. They then created their own Turtleboy and cut him out. Silent basketball was a hit and students were given the opportunity to try some silent basketball skills with one another. The challenge for them was to pay attention to the person given the signs. Thankyou to our talented AUSLAN Team - Mrs Oakley and Mrs S for organising a wonderful day of engaging activities.
Thankyou for your ongoing support this term. It certainly has been very busy and rewarding.
Enjoy your break!
See you next term.
Ms Bates and Mrs Crawford!
