Inquiry

This term our Inquiry unit was Land and Sky - Earth & Space Sciences.

Students investigated the changes that occur in the sky (including night and day) and why these changes occur. We explored seasonal changes to the landscape and how daily and seasonal changes affect everyday life. Students learnt how the Earth’s resources are used in a variety of ways. They were introduced to the Earth’s water cycle through scientific inquiry. Students investigated how water is managed and the ways individuals, families, groups and communities can work together to care for and improve their environment.

Scienceworks

On Monday 19th of August we went to Scienceworks and the Planetarium as part of our Inquiry unit. We had a fantastic day. Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who shared our day.

Auslan Day

On Thursday 29th of August we participated in Auslan Day. The students enjoyed the many different activities. They really loved meeting Kerry, a deaf teacher and author. They also enjoyed silent basketball and various art and craft activities. We watched Bluey 'Turtle Boy' episode and made a turtle to play hide and seek with. We made butterflies with handprints. Did you know butterflies are deaf?

Passion Day

On Tuesday 17th of September we celebrated things we are passionate about in our Passion Day. Students enjoyed dressing up and sharing their interests.

Thankyou

Thankyou for a great term. We wish you all a very happy and safe holiday and look forward to a fantastic term 4.

Tricky Words

Through the InitiaLit program a range of Tricky Words are taught. These words are referred to as Tricky Words as they cannot be spelled by sounding them out. Due to the nature of the program, the sets of Tricky Words get taught in groups of three and are taught during any given lesson.

You can assist your child at home in many ways. For example try: sky writing the tricky words, writing them on paper or putting them in a highly visible area, such as the fridge and spell them aloud repeatedly. Below are Term 3's tricky words.

Take Home Readers

Each week, your child is provided with the opportunity to change their hard copy reader to read for the week. We ask that the book is read 3-4 times per week and is logged into your child’s reading diary.

Your child’s reading diary and book needs to be brought to school every Friday morning to be checked by your child’s classroom teacher. We kindly ask that all books are taken care of and returned in good condition every Friday.

Students have taken home their MultiLit eLibrary passwords so they can choose to supplement their take home reader some nights of the week.
