Year 4 Urban Gardening
In our gardening lessons we have been doing numerous activities good for the environment. Such as picking up dirty rubbish, composting, planting, shredding lots of work sheet paper for little worms and watering the phenomenal plants we own. As well as these environmentally friendly activities we have been adding a little bit more colour to this amazing school by using old t-shirts and weaving them into decorative, bright roses. Lately we have been planting more delicious garden vegetables to sell at the end of the year to raise some more money for our exquisite, spectacular school that provided us with the opportunity to nurture our precious and tedious gardens. All our green, great tasting vegetables are growing strong and we look forward to being able to sell them to our garden loving families at the end of the year.

This year in gardening, we have had so much fun learning how to weed, water, plant, and weave by recycling old T-shirts! Ms Hewitt, Ms Bunn and Ms Williams have been a Huge help around our school by teaching us the importance of our garden and recycling! In weeding with Ms Williams we’ve cleared the year 1, year 3 and the quiet area from all the nasty weeds killing our plants! In planting with Ms Bunn we've planted small flowers in small little pots. We have planted plum, nectarine and pear trees and we planted loads of beautiful, small flowers around the quince tree in the centre garden next to the BER and the year 1 classrooms! During watering we’ve watered all of our beautiful plants and fruit trees which we have planted during our Year Four gardening time! Lastly, while weaving we have had so much fun with Ms Bunn! Cutting T-shirts, making little yarn balls and especially weaving! Ms Hewitt has organised all the rotations so everyone has a turn! The year 4’s have had a blast at gardening, laughing our heads off, and we hope the year 4’s next year do too!
