Learning News 2/3

Mrs Ruth Anderson and Mrs Justine Harris

Years 2/3

This week in writing we have been creating some persuasive advertisements. They did not need any encouragement for what to include, they knew all the lingo - buy 2 get 1 free; 20% off; hurry, limited stock; buy this now and go into the draw for… We may have some advertising executives on our hands!

Mrs Anderson and I are both racing to finish the books we are reading to the class before the end of the year, let’s hope we get them done.

Years 1/2 Maths

We have been learning  to measure, record, compare and estimate lengths and distances using uniform informal units, as well as metres and centimetres. We have had some fun times measuring all sorts of objects around the classroom and school. We all have a good understanding of how to measure carefully. On Thursday some of us drew an outline of each other in chalk on the concrete and then had to measure ‘our length - height!’ Some had too much fun with the drawing and reported that they were longer than 2 metres but were sent back to check which end of the metre ruler they were using.

K/1/2 Religion

We have spent some time preparing, practising and delivering our mass for Advent on Friday. Some practising their readings and prayers; others where they are to stand; and all rehearsing the songs.

Sport

Following the fantastic gymnastics’ program, for the next two weeks we will be having a choice of 3 rotations across the school. After recess you can choose from soccer, handball, or ballet. This will be after recess to ensure we beat the hottest part of the day.

Finally, we would also like to thank you for your support during the year and to wish you and all your family a wonderful time together over the holidays. Looking forward to seeing everyone back at school next year.
