Principal's Report

Dear St A’s Community,

As we near the end of Week 7 in Term Four, I can’t help but wonder—where has the year gone?! How is it that our Year Six students are almost at the end of their primary school journey, and our Prep students have grown into such independent, capable helpers, ready to welcome our incoming 2025 Preps?

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who makes our school such a vibrant and welcoming community. To our incredible staff, your hard work and dedication in the classroom do not go unnoticed. Your energy, enthusiasm, and care for our students are truly appreciated. To our parents and carers, thank you for your kindness and for always stopping to say hello at the gate—it’s such a pleasure to see your warm smiles and have a chance to chat with you each day.

Prep Transition

This week’s Prep 2025 transition sessions have been a wonderful success. It was heartwarming to see our future Preps exploring their new classrooms, meeting the 2025 Prep teachers, and starting their journey with us. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event so special for our new families.  This week the 2025 preps experienced specialist classes of Music and Art!  Next week they will participate in a PE session and a Yoga class!  We are so proud of how well the new preps have begun to transition into ‘big’ school life!

Community Fair

Excitement filled the air on Saturday as we launched our Community Fair at St Augustine’s. Huge crowds swelled across the school grounds enjoying the delights of our many and varied stalls. It was wonderful to see many past students, families, and parishioners, and to also welcome our new preps for 2025. The rides were very popular with all of the students, while parents milled around the bric-a-brac, plants stall and bake stall.  The lob a choc, as was a crowd favourite and the lucky jars were snapped up by many of our students.  I would like to thank all of our school families for donating so many goods and products for the various stalls and to everyone who was able to volunteer on the day of the fair or the days prior to and after, to help set up and clean up. The Community fair was a huge undertaking and we are blessed with such a dynamic community who help make this such a well loved event. Funds raised will go towards a new audio system in the hall!  Although the weather was not on our side, our community in true St Augustine’s style banded together to make this day a special event!  We have rescheduled our St A’s has talent show for the 6th of December and we will also draw the raffle on this day as well.

I also want to acknowledge one of our very special St A’s students Mellieha in Grade 2. Mellieha  ran her own stall at the fair and was selling slime!  After her stall was relocated after the rain began, this didn’t deter her spirit as she went to continue her sales in the hall.  On Monday morning Mellieha  came into my office with an envelope and donated a large amount of her hard earned profit to the school!  I was truly taken aback with gratitude.  This truly was a great act of kindness and a true testament to the wonderful student that she is!  Mellieha you are amazing and we are so proud of you!

Grade 2 Sleep Over

What a night our Grade 2 students had last night as they participated in the annual Grade 2 sleepover.  Miss Chaundy, Miss V, Mrs Cust, Miss Hunter, Mr Thomas and Miss Boyd endured the evening with the students as they played games, shared a pizza dinner, watched a movie, slept in their classrooms, had a shared breakfast, more games and finished with an incursion!  What a jam packed event!  The Grade 2’s had a great time together and it was a great experience for them all!  I believe they will sleep well tonight in their own beds!  Thank you to all that staff that contributed to the event and to the parents for supporting their children to participate!

Remembrance Day

Congratulations and thank you to the students who participated in the Remembrance Day ceremonies either at school or at the Frankston RSL memorial.  Our students reflected and remembered the service men and women who have served and continue to serve today, to protect our shores, our freedoms and for some, made the ultimate sacrifice.  May we never forget their bravery and strength.  Lest We Forget.

All students have made us very proud!

Hot Days ahead!

With summer and the warmer weather quickly approaching, I’d like to remind all students to come prepared with their hats and sunscreen each day at school. As we spend more time outdoors, it’s essential that everyone stays protected from the sun’s UV rays.

Parents, it would be greatly appreciated if you could teach your children to apply sunscreen at home before they come to school in the morning. This not only helps start their day off with good coverage but also ensures they’re familiar with the routine, as students will need to reapply during the day. By building this habit at home, we can work together to keep everyone sun safe.

Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.

Show Grace, Be the joy for others and God Bless.
