Year -1/2 Unit

It’s Week 8 and we are working so well together - achieving wonderful things and feeling more and more confident as the days go by. 

In Literacy (Reading and Writing) we have begun our unit on Narratives. The students are exploring different ways of planning for their writing pieces. Such as using the beginning, middle, end structure. They have enjoyed getting creative with the setting/ characters/problem/solution in their writing. Their completed pieces promise to be engaging, interesting and unique. 

In Maths, our focus has been on time, capacity and mass. Whilst some of the students have a solid understanding, others are still building their knowledge. It has been a joy to see them working together to ensure everyone understands the topic. Lots of hands-on making, measuring and comparing has meant we have been applying these concepts to real life mathematics. 

Our Inquiry topic has been centred around telling a story through digital communication. The students loved creating a short comic online. This is a fun activity to complete at home too! https://makebeliefscomix.com/Comix/
