Parents & Friends Club

2024 has been another wonderful year full of fun and success for the Parents and Friends Club (PFC). We’ve achieved key goals and hosted some fantastic events.

Events hosted and supported by PFC in 2024

The PFC organised a range of well-attended events including:

  • Welcome Event
  • Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Treats
  • Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Stalls
  • Flip Out
  • Disco
  • Footy Colours Day Hot Dog Lunch
  • World Teachers’ Day
  • Secondhand Uniform Stalls and Donation Days, including sorting and returning lost property
  • End of Year Event

Highlights of 2024

We were fortunate with beautiful weather for our Mother’s and Father’s Day treats, which saw high attendance and provided a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and celebrate. The Disco was another standout, and as always, it was no easy task to organise. A huge thank you to the many parent volunteers who helped make these events a memorable experience for the children and the community.

Fundraising success

We are excited to share that the PFC raised a total of $16,850 throughout the year! This incredible achievement has allowed us to contribute to several key projects, enhancing EHPS. We were able to support the installation of the fans and lighting upgrade in the Stadium, as well as the installation of a new shade sail on The Heights. These improvements will benefit the entire school community for years to come.

A big thank you to our 2024 PFC members

We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the 2024 PFC members for their hard work and commitment.

Executive Team:  Sam W (President), Ruchi (Secretary) and Vasudha (Treasurer)

Committee:  Niki and Siew (Secondhand Uniform), Caz M (Fundraising), and Kelly L (Social Media)

Members:  Alison P, Naheed S, Betty C and Borris Z.

A special thank you to departing members

We would also like to recognise and thank those members who are departing the PFC this year. Your commitment, dedication, and support have truly been appreciated. A special thank you goes to Betty (former PFC President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Committee Member) and Naheed (former Treasurer and Committee Member), who are both leaving the school this year.

Betty has been a pivotal part of the PFC since Betty’s family joined Essex in 2008. She led many of our most memorable events, including Carnivals, Mother’s and Father’s Day Stalls, Breakfasts, Welcome Events, Discos—you name it! And when she wasn’t volunteering with the PFC, she was on the School Council, OSHC Committee, or organising one of her six kid’s graduations. Betty’s hard work, dedication and bubbly personality will be greatly missed.

We also thank Naheed for her many years of service, you have been a joy to work with. Both of you have been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for your contributions to the PFC and school community.

Secondhand Uniform & Lost Property

Many thanks to Alison, Elima and Natalie for your help at the final donation day of the year today. All clearly labelled items have been removed from the lost property boxes that are stationed around the school. These are now with our trusty Sustainability Captains to return to the classrooms next week (the last week of school). What remains in the boxes are unnamed items of clothing. We urge parents and guardians to go through the boxes and retrieve their lost items (before school starts at 8.50am or after school dismissal at 3.30pm). Water bottles, food containers, etc are along the Library windowsill for collection.

On behalf of the PFC I want to thank our EHPS families for the continued support of the Secondhand Uniform Stall through purchases, donation and time volunteered this year. A special shout out to the Sustainability Captains for taking on the task of returning labelled uniforms to the classroom, and all the parent volunteers (you know who you are). The secondhand uniform stall would not run as smoothly as they have without your help. If any parents are interested in volunteering with secondhand uniforms in 2025, please leave your contact details at the Office. If more parents are able to help, maybe we can lessen the burden on the Sustainability Captains.

Next year’s Term 1 Secondhand Uniform Stall and Donation Day will be on Friday 14 February 2025 from 3pm to 3.45pm at the Stadium.

We wish everyone a very merry Christmas and New Year, and a safe holiday.

Ritchie’s IGA Loyalty Program

Our school is part of the Ritchies Community Benefit Program (RCBP). EHPS received $24.36 from the RCBP in November

If you shop at a Ritchies IGA (the local store is in Mount Waverley) and are a member of their loyalty program, please support EHPS by choosing our school as your nominated beneficiary. Each month we receive 0.5% of purchases made by customers who have selected our school each month. Please encourage family and friends who also shop at IGA to support EHPS.
