Congratulations to...

We would like to congratulate Riley Sterenberg (11 Riley) for receiving her pilot’s wings.

After 10 hours of flying with an instructor, and another 30 hours of solo flying, she has been able to achieve this incredible accomplishment.

Congratulations, Riley!

On the weekend, Hayley Couch (11 Riley) became a state champion of the 15-to-17-year-old girls 1st to 3rd kyu division in Individual Kumite. 'Kumite' is the component of karate in which a person trains against one or more adversaries, using the techniques learned from the 'Kihon' and 'Kata'. In Kata, students learn only the body movements and use of techniques for attacks and blocks with imaginary opponent. Hayley also placed second in Individual Kata.

Congratulations, Hayley!

Congratulations to Henry Allan (10 Jones), who was awarded the annual Bendigo Sportsmen Association award for his achievements in swimming. He had received the association's monthly award earlier in May, which made him eligible for the annual trophy and scholarship.

The association noted Henry’s achievements in state, national and international events over 2024 and his dedication and persistence to his sport over the years. Henry thanked the association for their support, and also his coach John Jordan from Bendigo East Swimming Club.

Congratulations to Yuliya Lenard (teacher of piano), who competed in a recent Dancesport competition, placing third in Standard Waltz in the Coach/Student event and second in New Vogue’s 'Evening Three Step' in the Social Follow event.

Yuliya stated:

A long time ago, a little girl (now Mrs Lenard) wanted to start ballroom dancing lessons, but music filled her time. It is never late to make your dream come true! With the encouragement of her family and friends, and the expertise of coaches from Let’s Dance studio, she came third in Standard Waltz in the Coach/Student event and second in New Vogue’s 'Evening Three Step' in the Social Follow event. Keep dreaming and one day your wish will come true!
