PHYSICAL EDUCATION
After completing our Swimming Program, our students have been enjoying the final focus for PE this term.
Our Juniors have been working on their soccer skills. This includes kicking for distance, passing with a partner as well as trapping and dribbling skills too. All students have been working hard at using the inside part of their foot and I've seen great progression in their skills!
Our Middles and Seniors have been getting amongst their Cricket unit. There has been heaps of learning occurring with bowling, batting and fielding elements. Through small modified games, all students have been loving getting to play different roles, working towards achieving more runs and their ability to work as a team. We will continue to learn a variety of rules so that students are able to self-umpire their games.
LOTE - AUSLAN
Across the school, we have been creating our own stories and learning how to communicate these in Auslan.
Our Juniors have almost completed their class stories and look amazing when signing thier own part. Some students have even extended their skills to learn their friends parts too. We will have a turn at signing the whole story in the last week of term.
Our Middles and Seniors have been working on their own stories and developing them as a comic or a picture story book. It's been super impressive to see students add extra detail and extend their knowledge when learning the words in their story.
STEAM: Science, Technology & The Arts
Teaching and Learning
Students have completed their big projects for the term! The 3-6s worked hard to complete their buildings to put together a city. They showed dedication to bringing their designs to life. Our preps finished off their movement unit and had a great understanding of how people and objects move, using words such as bounce, roll and slide. The 1/2s created a Rube Goldberg machine and had to use their knowledge of how pushes and pulls can affect the movement of objects.
3/4 Space Science Incursion
We had the fantastic opportunity to have the Victorian Space Science Education Centre come to OPS for 'Reach for the Stars' and 'Tickle my Droid'. Students loved pretending to code each other as robots and then programming Sphero robots to go around the Mars map. In Reach for the Stars, they designed, built and launched rockets, with some launching all the way across the oval!
STEAM Festival Crew
The STEAM crew are getting ready to put the final pieces together for our festival. They have been working really well as teams and have come up with creative ideas that we cannot wait to showcase.
