PREP AA

 Hello families!

Can you believe it is our last newsletter entry before the end of term? I cannot believe how fast the time has gone and we have had such a busy and happy last few weeks. Revising our crucial learning from the year and reflecting on social and emotional strategies we have implemented. We have been going back to basics these last few weeks and consolidating life long learning skills that will follow us through Primary School, a lot of fine motor and cutting, following step by step instructions and automatic recall for number and letters.

The next few weeks will be following a similar program and is known as the glorious "fun and games weeks" where we focus on strengthening group and team work mentality through hands on games, both small group and whole class. We have been creating a lot with playdough, having competitions with mobilo and enjoying free play arts and crafts.

Special events:

School disco:

A big well done to our PFA and Prep families who helped set up a fun and engaging school disco, all students had so much fun and were talking about it for days to come!

Kaboom kids:

The preps engaged with a tabloid sports program presented on Wednesday where they did two hours of round robin activities focusing on hand eye coordination and gross motor skills. It was finished up with some pizza and choc tops which everyone was very excited about!

Coming up:

End of year concert:

Our end of year concert will be on Monday the 9th of December,

5-6pm: Bring a picnic tea or enjoy a sausage sizzle.

6-7:30pm: Concert

Students can wear Christmas themed items or free dress!

We hope to see you all there and cannot wait to celebrate all the success of the year with you.

Statewide transition day:

On the 10th of December, our whole school will have state wide transition and enjoy the morning playing, team building and playing fun getting to know you games.  Statewide transition will go from 9:30-12:30pm giving all of our students a good idea of what will take place next year.

The preps will have everything ready to take with them in the morning!

Prep AA class party:

On Wednesday the 18th of December, we will be having a class party to celebrate all of our achievements this year, we will play games, eat lots of amazing foods and enjoy a classic movie! There is a chart on our door for you to fill in what you are bringing if you would like to!

That is all from me, hoping you all are well and wishing you all the best for the holidays!

1/2PB and 1/2NP

As we quickly approach the end of the year, we have continued to work hard in the 1/2 rooms!

Across all of our core subjects we have been reviewing and practising our core skills. In reading, we have been practising our fluency and our ability to answer questions about the texts that we are reading. In writing, we are continuing with narrative and persuasive writing. We are working on strengthening our stories by using sizzling starts and adjectives and adverbs to make our writing more interesting. We have also been attempting to strengthen our reasons in persuasive writing to really persuade our readers to agree with our opinions. In maths we have been revising the four processes; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We worked with money, finding the total of a collection of coins. We practised collecting and displaying data. In geography, we looked at identifying the continents and oceans on a world map. We discussed natural, constructed and managed features of the environment coming up with examples for each. We have been working on our information projects about an animal that was chosen from a collection. Students have to research and collect information on their chosen animal and they will be presenting these too.

Now that we are in December, we have slowly started to include many Christmas themed activities. The most exciting thing we have been doing in the classroom is preparing for our end of year concert. We have been practising our dances and trying to make it look fantastic in time for the concert. In 1/2PB we had a special friend join the grade, Peppermint the elf. In 1/2NP, Pudding the elf has joined the class. Both elves have been a great addition and we look forward to seeing what they get up to each day.

Kaboom kids came to visit on Wednesday the 4th and they were so much fun

Take care from the junior team,

Nicole, Phoebe, Jeanette, Shannon, Jacqui and Carol
